Eye time for Jimby.

Cataract operation tomorrow, really looking forward to it, this left eye is almost down to light/dark levels of sight so if it falls out on the operating table I'm hardly any worse off.

Jimby's fairly simple method of doing the cube.

I don't use the same code for moves that are commonly found online, I've substituted other letters for the hard to get into your head ones found. in my case,
R   for right side clockwise.
W  for right side anti-clockwise.
A   for right side 180 degrees.
F   for front side clockwise.
H   for front side anti-clockwise.
U   for upper side clockwise.
T   for upper side ant-clockwise.
O   for upper side 180 degrees.
B    for rear side clockwise.
K   for rear side anti-clockwise.
Z    for rear side 180 degrees.

So first up start with the white side (you'll note that the centre face colours don't move) and make a cross where it aligns with its side colours as in the centre cube here, not like the naughty side ones, as it becomes awkward if you don't align them, for this cross move you just have to be able to do it without a help sheet, but you don't have to worry about moving any other pieces.
All online clues use the white as the starter face so that's why white.

With the cross done we flip the cube over, now we have to put the first layer corners in place, here I have the red, blue, and white ones ready to insert, note that they're all rotated differently, place the corner above where it has to be inserted, in this photo the right side is the bottom right of photo.
The left cube uses WTR
The centre is ROWTRUW
the right is ROW.
Do this for the four corners, if one or more is in the right place but rotates wrongly then move it out and replace it. That then completes the first layer.

Next the 2nd layer is merely 4 edge pieces but takes a bit of simple grinding.
The left and right cubes here show the preparation of making a tower with the bit to be inserted and holding the tower on the right. The left cube requires the piece to come back towards you so you apply WTWTWURUR (which is a lot easier to do than it looks), the cube on the right has the piece needing to go away from you so we use the opposite moves RURURTWTW
The centre cube has its bit around the wrong way, for the sake of ease just use one of those codes to remove it then turn the upper face to make a tower with it and use the right code. myself in that case I use ROWUROWUHTF but there's no need to know everything to do the cube.
Now we start the top yellow layer, first up we need to make a yellow cross, you'll be faced with four possibilities, Just the centre spot yellow, in which case we need to use both codes, two yellows opposite each other as in the centre cube (the cubes are now faced with the lower right of photo now the front) use FRUWTH, two yellows at right angles as in the right cube, use FURTWH, or all four edges yellow as in the left cube, which is done so move to the next stage.
Now we have to rotate the corners to give us an all yellow look. You can get away with one code for this but may have to reapply it a few times, you will either have 2,3, or 4 corners to be rotated or none which is a rare win, If all 4 need to be rotated (not shown here) the face a pair of yellows to the left and apply RUWUROW, then you'll have 3 to be rotated which is what we want, if two need rotating then have the yellow facing to the front and again apply RUWUROW, again that'll result in 3 to be rotated. Now 3 to be rotated results in what I call the fish if they need to go clockwise, or the rocket if they need to go anti-clockwise, if a fish like the right cube here apply RUWUROW (again the front face here is shown lower right)

Here the cubes are shown after using  RUWUROW and the two left cubes have become rockets, in this case they need the 3 corners turned anti-clockwise and ROWTRTW can be used to avoid a doubler on the RUWUROW.

Now we have to move the corners to the correct position now we look for headlights, which all 3 cubes here have, headlights are 2 corners the same colour facing the same way, you can have 0, 1 or 4 headlights, if 0 then you just have to do the code twice, if 4 then it's done already, if 1 as in these cubes hold the headlights to the right and apply AZRFWZRHR.
Lastly we place the top edge pieces, there's a few patterns but only one code is absolutely needed or its reverse as well if you want to save a bit of grinding. possibilities are all four edges are wrong as in the left cube here, in which case use the code twice, the centre and right cubes here have one edge in the correct place and the other three need to move clockwise. in this case hold the good side on your left and use AUFKABHUA
If they need to move anti-clockwise use ATFKABHTA or just move them clockwise twice.
That will result in a lovely cube but you'll never break any speed records, that's for the young whizz kids who will be sneering at my simplicity, but even with every shortcut locked into my head at my age I'm never going to be quick.
It was a good companion when I was stuck in hospital last year for an eternity though.

Daisy's breaking.

I got fuel for Daisy this morning and the fuel flap didn't want to open, and I now see that I've managed to gouge her paint a bit :(. The cast plastic on the RH of this piccie has snapped off thus not providing the thrust needed to pop the flap open a bit.
My fix is to glue a bit of old inner tube where the tit has snapped off. Apologies for crook photos but I can't see what I'm doing these days, hopefully in a fortnight I might be able to see again as the cataract operation I've been waiting for is scheduled for the 27th :).
Round 3 of the football season should be real nice for me, I can't readily make out the numbers on their backs these days but after the operation I might be able to recognise their faces again. Maybe I should be American where nobody worries about faces as they're always covered, what am I saying? wash my mouth out, I'd get too angry watching USA football, far too many of those lads are in a competition to see who can grow the longest hair, something that just gets Jimby shaking his fist and yelling get a haircut hippie.

A Jimby repair to the air intake.

My Mother has bought a 1999 Mazda 626 which I'm trying to make roadworthy, rather too slowly I'm afraid since summer was either too wet (2800 mm over the 3 months), or too hot, 40+ on at least 5 days.
I thought and thought about how to fix the split concertina hose joining the intake chamber to the air filter, and came up with the idea of gluing a bit of old inner tube to the right size and just placing it over the concertina part, hopefully it'll hold.
Unlike many I respect the designers of things like this and think that keeping the original intake flow can only be a good thing as it should aid efficiency and lower noise. I also don't like the idea of spending money.

At last a seat.

We almost have a seat near Log Creek now after the council got hold of some taxpayer money.
It would have been nice if they thought outside the square and placed it facing Log Creek rather than the road but its position is still very welcome by Fairford Road people who walk to town.
Naturally it has a rail in the middle so folk can't get too comfortable.
